When the economy takes a downturn, small business owners look to in-person networking to keep cash flow moving in their business. What most business owners don’t realize is there may be a simpler way.
Would it be beneficial to grow your local business with social networking?
Here are a few factors to consider before diving in:
1. Is your target audience searching for your solution online?
2. Does your niche market provide a solution that a social networker could recommend?
3. Do you already collaborate or in-person network with other business owners that utilize social networking?
4. Do you know that your website will convert a prospect to client if you drive traffic to it?
I know what you might be thinking … I don’t know what to do. I don’t know where to start.
Here’s a step-by-step starter guide for creating an online, social network for your business.
Where to start:
1. Start with Facebook – Facebook offers a simple, step-by-step way to create a profile. So, go ahead create a profile and ask all your in-person friends to join you.
2. Share information – Information makes social networking beneficial for those in your network. Share pictures, audio, video and even articles with those contacts. This offers two benefits:
a) As you do this other contacts will find you or you can search for contacts by observing what others are sharing with your network.
b) People will become interested in you and what you do. This is drive traffic to your profile and oftentimes your website.
3. Explore other social networking options – Depending on what media you are using to promote your company various social media might make sense for your business. For example if you want to create videos, you would choose youTube to post profile and then share on Facebook. On the other hand if you promote via articles you probably want to consider a strategy that includes a blog and a Facebook blog. That’s right – post your articles on your blog, Facebook blog and as many other article distribution sites.
4. Don’t forget to link – Linking back from your social media sites, articles and blog to your website will help create traffic, which is ultimately the goal.
5. Create more traffic – Once you have these social media strategies under your belt there are many, many ways to drive more traffic to your website and sell products and services. Let’s take Twitter as an example. Twitter offers a way to share upcoming products, services, news and insights with colleagues – like mini announcements. By using this social media tool in this way, we gain exposure by keeping contacts in our network informed, keep ourselves on the forefront of their minds and build our credibility.
Online social marketing is a way to come along side your current in-person networking. By acting as a resource, keeping people informed of your business activities and making your business accessible in various platforms, you increase your visibility online, driving traffic to your website and eventually converting that exposure in to tangible sales.
I think the concept of time management is a little silly. We can’t manage time. The clock continues to go no matter what.
We can, however, manage what we do in the time we have. You look around and see someone creating your dreams and you think… how did they do that? And then you feel the slight tingle of jealousy – until you tell yourself that is the ego and it needs to go away – right? Well, the true is … they just invested their time differently than you did. We all have the same amount of time. How can you “BE” there for every moment?
What are YOU doing with your time?
Money is not our greatest asset – time is! So why do we use so much time wasting time?
As I see it, there are three ways to use our precious time.
1. Wasting it: Wasting to some extent can be a matter of opinion, because if you are playing games or watch T.V. with intention you are using your time – not wasting it. For example, those activities may bring you joy and a greater experience of life. It’s when you do those activities without intention and you are waiting for something greater to come along.
2. Spending it: Spending time often happens when one is working a job for money. When time equals money only, you are spending your time. However, if you day’s work offers you reward and happiness you may find yourself on the next level enjoying it.
3. Enjoying it: Enjoying time could be any activities that bring you joy. You choose. Many times you are enjoying time, you are also investing it. Some example include playing with your kids – you are investing in the relationship.
4. Investing it: Investing time is when you are creating something new that will deliver you passive income. This could be creating relationships, products, services etc.
What are YOU doing with your time?
HOMEWORK:
As a success mentor, I want to leave you with a few thoughts.
1. How can remember to ask yourself, “What am I doing with my time now?” In other words, are you wasting it, spending it or investing it?
2. How can you master how you operate so you master your time?
This is your life. How can you love the life you lead – every moment of every day?
Okay… I have a serious confession to make. I have avoided creating an information product for a very long time. It’s not because I lacked the knowledge, but something in the fabric of my mindset didn’t believe that it would be profitable after extensive creation and marketing. So instead I went the book creation route which has been extraordinary, but not as extraordinary as it may have been if I would have just done it – like I did with my Thin Thought Audio Program.
If you have been blocked like me in the past, let me set you straight…
Creating information products aren’t as difficult as you may think. Just like physical books, they provide more credibility and more money?
Here are the two most common assumptions I hear clients make that couldn’t be more wrong, and what the truth REALLY is.
What’s blocking you? Let’s find out.
Some of you may be blocked because you believe…
1. There are other experts (better than you) and they already have a product. You should just refer to them.
• This is true, but how do you think they became experts? They became an expert by learning all they could on a topic and putting out their very best. Are you?
• You could refer, but then you would never become an expert by building your credibility.
2. That you will upset other online experts by creating a similar info-product.
• Actually, this one is completely false. You will be creating awareness of the need and your solution. Customers may buy both solutions.
3. No one will buy from you… you aren’t the “known” expert.
• Well, how do you think an expert becomes an expert? By learning everything they can on the topic and then… maybe… just maybe… sharing with the world.
4. No one will buy the product once it’s completed.
• Please don’t take this the wrong way BUT — this is completely a limiting belief. As a mindset expert I just can’t have it! I ask you to change your story and re-empower your being!
5. You don’t know how to market or sell an info-product.
• That’s okay. There are experts out there to help to show you the way. In fact, my company is open a division that teaches and trains product launches. The Grand Opening is Feb. 1st – the site will be available at: http://www.launchdiva.com
In all seriousness, if you have the desire to create an info-product just start. Take action will the desire is in your heart.
I am standing at the checkout register in Neiman Marcus with my new beautiful pair of black sandals. The assistant opens the box, as soon as I see them, my heart pumps. They are so incredible. Incredible. With delicate straps and a tiny Ferragamo logo as the buckle, I fell madly, deeply and passionately in love with them the first time I set eyes on them. They make my feet look dainty, my legs slimmer and whole being feel richer.
As cute as this may seem. It can be a POWERFUL manifestation process… with all seriousness, I invite you to listen to my D.R.E.A.M process to manifesting with bliss. Listen to the D.R.E.A.M. process. It’s about a 40 minute training call.
In this case … this is how I see it!
Desire: I want to see these shoes on my feet.
Real Love: Ah, isn’t that obvious?
Emotional Decision: I make the emotional decision to purchase them in my head first
Act now: I buy them. (If the money/resource isn’t available work the above “Emotional Decision”. Experts say if the desire is true the resource to manifest is always available.)
Manifest: I wear them joyfully and regularly.
Last week, one of my clients called me “Focahontas”, because our work together has provided him clarity and focus to his vision. However, what I find that I really do is provide simple ways for us to focus and operate in business (and life).
Today’s article is one of my simple way methods that you can use to leverage your time with more effective ways to communicate with your clients.
How are YOU communicating effectively? Not just in your marketing, branding and documentation, but in all ways that you use your words and the energy behind your words.
I tell my two year old all the time to “use her words”. I’ll tell you the same.
As I see it, there are five levels of communication to create greater wealth in your business and life.
Level 1: Mental Chatter: When we speak negatively to ourselves or when we are randomly fretting about the future or the past. This is the worst kind of communication. The energy of the words causes negative creation. You are creating things that you don’t want and desire. You are also effecting others by not being present for them.
Level 2: Exchanging words: When we exchange words we are speaking and sharing nonsense. Some people call it “complaining”, “chit chatting” others may call it “gossiping”. Whatever form it comes in for example in person, email or phone you will know it when you feel drained of energy.
Level 3: Value-add: When we speak to add value we are connecting with others. These people are great as team players.
Level 4: Motivate: When we speak to motivate others, we become proactive with our lives and clear on how to lead others with our words.
Level 5: Inspire: When we speak to inspire others, we become driven by the heart and passionate about help others grow. The words in this article are designed to inspire change from within you.
How are YOU communicating effectively?

Email marketing isn’t about purchase this and that from me — it’s about writing to real people, cultivating real relationships and providing incredible services to them. I invite you to offer authenticity, personality, humor and valuable information, so your subscribers become eager to read your information and purchase products the want from you.
To help you, I want to share the most common mistakes entrepreneurs make.
Drum-roll please…
Email Marketing Mistake 1: So-so subject lines
Studies have shown that people choose to open your email based on… #1 The From Line and #2 The Subject Line. Since we can’t change the From Line, let’s talk about the subject line.
The purpose of the subject line is to get your subscribers to open your email. The best advice I’ve ever received on this topic is for the subject line to make the reader “curious”.
For example: “Jen, did you hear about this?” or “Jack, you won’t believe your eyes!”
Do you see how these subject lines make the reader curious?
One last tip: Keep them short anywhere between 45 and 55 characters is perfect.
Email Marketing Mistake #2: Mundane Messages
The truth is people don’t really care how wonderful and great you are. They care about themselves. They care about what they need.
Again the trick here is to make the reader curious to learn and read more. Get them excited about the subject and show them how it can help them.
Email Marketing Mistake #3: Bring up the Buy
When you want your subscribers to buy something from you, consider making them so curious, they can’t help but want to click to your sales letter. Stick with telling a compelling story that allows your subscriber to become excited and curious about what they could receive.
Think about stories that start with … last week, yesterday, earlier this morning.
Email Marketing Mistake #4: Lacking Love
Whether you are sending information to small business owners or corporate offices, it is so important to “be” in your writing. Really connect with your message and your words to express the purpose and meaning beyond the words.
Email Marketing Mistake #5: Gunning Gratitude
Whether it’s emotionally or you are outright saying thank-you. If you give what you can, you will receive gratitude and gifts in return.
A Simple Way of Being: We are all real people; LOVE your neighbor as you do yourself.
